Join us on June 4th for an in depth conversation with award winning editor Ricardo Acosta, CCE. We’ll talk about how the film PARADE: QUEER ACTS OF LOVE & RESISTANCE, captured the pivotal moments that sparked Canada’s 2SLGBTQI+ movement, honouring the activists and elders whose resistance led to the rights we have today. .
This event will be moderated by Nick Hector, CCE, BFE.
Members have early access to tickets (free to attend but must RSVP) until May 17th

Ricardo has been working in the film industry for over 25 years. He has been awarded with an Emmy, and has been nominated several times to Genie, Gemini, CCE and CS Awards
Ricardo came to Canada from his native Cuba in 1993, where he studied and worked at the world-renowned Cuban Film Institute in Havana.
His outstanding work and keen sense of the human condition has contributed to the making of several award-winning and award-nominated films. Some credits include: 15 TO LIFE, MARMATO, THE SILENCE OF OTHERS and HERMAN’S HOUSE.
Nick Hector, CCE, BFE is a Canadian Screen, HotDocs, Canadian Cinema Editors, Directors Guild of Canada, and Gemini Award-winning film editor of more than 150 films and programs. His work has been included in the Criterion Collection and screened at most major international festivals, including the Berlinale, Sundance, and TIFF. Nick is an Associate Professor of film production at the University of Windsor. His scholarly research explores the relationship between the craft process and artistic outcomes in documentary film editing. Nick holds a Master of Arts in Media Education and a Doctorate in Fine Art.
