Nominations 2026

Here are the nominations so far: (Presented in the language they were provided)

Présidente

I would like to submit my candidacy for the position of President of the Canadian Cinema Editors Board. With six years of experience as Quebec Regional Representative, I have developed a deep understanding of our members’ needs. During my tenure, I worked to strengthen our regional presence and build connections within the editing community. After stepping back a few years, I am eager to return with fresh perspective but the same commitment. As President, I would focus on building on what we have accomplished in the past 20 years, while helping the CCE move forward as it always did. I believe my experience will allow me to work collaboratively with the Board to advance the CCE’s mission and support our members across Canada.

BIO

Isabelle Malenfant is an award-winning Canadian film and television editor based in Montreal. She has spent nearly three decades in the editing suite. Her feature film credits include Les furies, Out Standing, Le plongeur, Le temps d’un été, Pieds nus dans l’aube, Dans une galaxie près de chez vous 2, un capitalisme sentimental and the French animated film Mune. On television, she has shaped the rhythm of numerous Quebec series including Le gouffre lumineux, Vitrerie Joyal, Les beaux malaises, Sorcières, Marche à l’ombre, and the comedy shows En tout cas and Double Jeu. Beyond scripted work, she’s also edited commercials, shorts, and contributed to the Ubisoft game Watch Dogs. Over the years, she’s developed a remarkable creative partnership with directors like Francis Leclerc, Mélanie Charbonneau, Yves Simoneau, and Louise Archambault. Isabelle is a Full Member of the CCE and remains committed to supporting the craft of editing in Canadian cinema.

Vice President

I’ve loved being part of the CCE board the last four years and it’s been a great way to meet so many of the awesome members of the Canadian editor community. Across that time I’ve been involved across committees, award juries, as interview moderator, and an organiser of events like the VSC Screenings in Toronto. I’ve enjoyed my role as Vice President the last two years as it has let me contribute in little ways across different areas depending on the needs of the CCE; anything from feedback on budget decisions to recording masterclass audio or hosting events. I’m happy to continue being a multitool!

BIO

I’m a video editor with over 15 years experience, primarily in unscripted television and documentary film. I’ve worked in New Zealand, the United Kingdom & Canada, editing shows like The Amazing Race Canada, FBI True, & Married at First Sight.

Trésorier

Stephen Philipson PhotoPlease consider me for another term as Treasurer. It has been an honour serving the CCE for the past two years. I have really enjoyed working with Ali to lay the financial groundwork for the future of our organization, and I hope to continue our campaign to bring in new sponsors, while exploring opportunities for grants and other sources of funding. Having served on the board for 8 years, I believe my experience and knowledge of the institution would be a valuable asset to incoming board members, but as always, I promise to be open to new ideas as the CCE changes and evolves with the times.

BIO

Stephen Philipson, CCE, ACE, is an award-winning editor whose credits include RAISED BY WOLVES from Ridley Scott, HANNIBAL from Bryan Fuller, indie favourite THE WILD HUNT, voted Best Canadian First Feature at the Toronto International Film Festival, and the upcoming series BLADE RUNNER 2099 and NEUROMANCER. Never one to turn down an adventure, he once travelled to Sri Lanka to edit an epic Action/Romance about the Sri Lankan civil war (in Tamil and Singhalese) for a director who contacted him randomly over the internet. Giving back to the editing community is very important to Stephen. In addition to teaching workshops and mentoring emerging editors, he has served on the board of the Canadian Cinema Editors for eight years, including four as President.

Secrétaire

I’d love the opportunity to become more involved with the CCE and contribute to the editing community on a national level. I’m a member of Screen Nova Scotia and Women in Film & Television Atlantic, and over the years I’ve really enjoyed finding ways to give back to the filmmaking community, whether through mentoring emerging editors, teaching editing workshops at AFCOOP, NSCAD University and the University of King’s College, or participating as a panelist and moderator at EditCon and CCE in Conversation events. Being based in Halifax, I’d also be excited to bring an Atlantic Canadian perspective to the board and help strengthen connections between editors in our region and the wider editing community across the country.

BIO

Amy Mielke is an award-winning film editor, director, and producer based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. With more than a decade in the edit suite, she specializes in emotionally driven documentary and narrative work, cutting feature documentaries, narrative films, shorts, and television series. Her work has screened internationally at festivals including SXSW and Clermont-Ferrand and aired on national broadcasters. Outside the edit suite, Amy is the co-founder of A+B Roll Films, an independent production company she runs with filmmaker Brittney Gavin, where she directs and produces original work. Despite wearing a few different hats, she’s still happiest in a dark edit suite, digging through mountains of footage and chasing the exact frame where a story finally clicks.

Responsable des commandites

I am applying to return to the CCE Board as Sponsorship Chair to bring continuity to the position and build on the momentum of my first term. Establishing new sponsorship relationships takes time, and much of my first year was spent finding my footing. If re-elected, I will continue to pursue new funding for the organization, maintain warm relationships, and find new ways to support Alison in strengthening the CCE’s operating budget. Additionally, as an editor based in Edmonton, Alberta I am hands-on organizing events and a CCE presence in the region. This will continue as I enter a second term.

BIO

Colin Waugh is an editor, director, and producer based out of Edmonton, Alberta. Focussed primarily on documentary and commercial projects, his most recent work “CBC ON DESIGN” and “THE SECRET LONG TREE SOCIETY” are available to watch on CBC Gem. Colin has also taught video production courses at MacEwan University since 2016. Outside of filmmaking– you can catch him in the Rocky Mountains fly fishing, camping, and downhill skiing.

Responsable des événements et de l’éducation

I have been a board member for a year, watching and learning. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the inner workings of the CCE and would like to continue to provide my support for the coming year.

I’d like to help the next generation of editors and our editing community, and to support the society. As an immigrant, I know how hard it can be to break into this industry, and I want to help make it easier for newcomers.

Représentant.es des régions : Ontario

Since joining the CCE a few years ago I’ve had the pleasure of becoming a regular part of the community’s Ontario/Toronto chapter, and have been a first-hand recipient of the benefits that being a part of such a community brings. I’ve had a few people approach me directly about running for the Ontario chair position — apparently my enthusiasm for the CCE hasn’t gone unnoticed — and was easily swayed into running. Should I be elected, I look forward to bringing my enthusiasm for the CCE and my love for the craft of editing and filmmaking to all the members, helping program and manage the association with ideas to continue to engage both existing and new members alike.

His own films have won international awards, and he’s currently working on the development of ‘Time Eater’, the feature film adaptation of his DGC-funded short film of the same name. If you see a guy with a curly pink mohawk at a CCE event or film festival, be sure to say hi to Ryan.
