About the Student Merit Award:

The CCE Student Merit Award recognizes up to five (5) students for their editing work on a specific film/video project. Recipients are chosen by a jury and honoured at the CCE Awards each year.

Eligible projects may be in any genre, but must have been created while the student editor is a full-time participant in a film, television or media program.

*Please note that editing “exercises,” such as re-edits of commercial or previously-produced films will not be accepted.

Student Submission Guidelines:

Students may NOT submit their own applications. Instructors may submit up to two (2) applications on behalf of student editors. See the guidelines below.

To submit a student’s work for consideration for the CCE Student Merit Award, please complete the form below.

The deadline for all submissions is 5pm ET on Friday April 10, 2026.

Please ensure that your submission conforms to the following eligibility guidelines:

Only Full-time students enrolled in a film, TV, or media program are eligible for submission by their instructors.
A student may not nominate themselves. An instructor/professor is to consider their student population and nominate up to two student editors whom they feel have shown exemplary effort, enthusiasm and talent in editing, as well as a passion to pursue the craft of editing.
For each project being submitted, a separate submission must be completed.
Please note that it is the entrant (instructor)’s responsibility to ensure the screening file is technically sound before it is uploaded.

Confirm Requirements Production Information

The Entrant warrants that the production is eligible in accordance with the CCE Awards Rules, as contained herein. In any case in which the CCE determines that the information required to be provided by the Entrant is inaccurate or incomplete, and the production is therefore incorrectly entered, the CCE reserves the right to declare the production ineligible to be submitted for nominations for any CCE Award.

The Entrant acknowledges and agrees that the CCE may, in its sole discretion, determine that no Awards be given in any category in which the productions entered do not meet CCE standards. The Entrant agrees that the CCE Awards Committee, subject to the approval of the CCE Board, will rule on any dispute in matters relating to the entry, eligibility, nominations, appeals and/or election of any production for an Award. The Entrant acknowledges that the CCE Board’s decision shall be final.

The Entrant acknowledges that the CCE Awards Committee reserves the right to amend or modify the rules contained herein at their discretion, subject to the approval of the CCE Board, or at the sole discretion of the CCE Board.

The Entrant and all individuals submitted for consideration herein release the CCE and its officers, directors, Awards Committee members and Awards Jury members, employees, representatives and agents from all liability for any reason whatsoever (including, without limitation, for any incidental and consequential damages) in respect of the Entry and its consideration for any Award, including, without limitation, for any negligence or omission in the processing of the Entry or in its consideration for an Award, however caused.
