Special Award Recipients

Scholarship recipient of the National Apprenticeship Program of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television in 1988, Annie Jean has never left the editing rooms since then, going from sound to image, from assistant to editor. As chief editor she has worked on more than 65 productions. Many have won awards both in Canada and abroad. She has been involved in sharing her knowledge through various editing courses and workshops in Montreal. Very much involved in the collective interests of editors over the last 25 years, she puts at the centre of her values solidarity among colleagues.

Didier Kennel, born and raised in Africa, became a freelance picture editor in 1985, and has worked in news, broadcast and specialized in Documentaries. For the past 26 years, Didier has been teaching Visual post production at Sheridan College’s BFTV, Media Arts, and the Journalism undergraduate programs, and in the post-graduate Advanced Television and Film Program. During his tenure he has trained over a thousand students in the art of picture editing. In 2008 Didier received the NISOD Award of Excellence. This international award was handed out in Austin Texas, for outstanding contribution to teaching, leadership and learning. Didier has also been an Avid Certified Instructor since 1994 and has successfully trained 100’s of professional editors on four continents.
