Catherine Legault

Depuis une quinzaine d’années, Catherine Legault signe le montage de nombreux films documentaire et fiction présentés internationalement dans les festivals, au cinéma et à la télévision.

Diplômée de l’Université Concordia en Film Production, elle est récipiendaire d’un prix Iris pour le montage de « La démolition familiale », en 2017, ainsi que de deux Gémeaux pour « 21 jours », en 2017, et pour « Ma caravane au Québec », en 2013. En 2019, elle est de nouveau en nomination au gala Québec Cinéma pour le montage du film de Serge Giguère, « Les lettres de ma mère ». Ses collaborations incluent plusieurs films primés, parmi lesquels « PilgrIMAGE », de Peter Wintonick et Mira Burt-Wintonick, « Mort subite d’un homme-théâtre », de Jean-Claude Coulbois, « La démolition familiale », de Patrick Damien, « Rebels on Pointe », de Bobbi Jo Hart, « Les lettres de ma mère », de Serge Giguère, et plus récemment, « FANNY: The Right to Rock », de Bobbi Jo Hart. En 2019, Catherine réalise et monte son premier long-métrage documentaire « Sisters: Dream & Variations ».

Catherine valorise la place du montage dans le processus de création. Elle est habituée à travailler avec une grande quantité de matériel provenant de sources variées et l’intégration d’archives vient couramment enrichir sa construction narrative. Ses montages sont appréciés pour leur sensibilité et leur fluidité, leurs différents niveaux de lecture et leur habilité à naviguer à travers l’espace et la temporalité. L’art dans toutes ses formes, le voyage, la famille et la transmission intergénérationnelle sont des thèmes qui ont souvent accompagné Catherine dans sa pratique du montage.

Lara Mazur is an award-winning Canadian fi lm and television editor. Lara approaches the craft of editing as a collaborative effort, weaving artistry and performance into the fabric of the story. She began her career as an apprentice editor with the National Film Board of Canada in Winnipeg, and, for over three decades, has moved seamlessly between documentary and scripted stories. Lara has collaborated with some of Canada’s top directors and producers, bringing stories with universal themes to audiences around the world on shows such as: Chris Haddock’s DaVinci’s Inquest and Intelligence; Strange Empire and Arctic Air; Norma Bailey’s Daughters of the Country, Bordertown Café and The Pastor’s Wife; No One Would Tell and Van Helsing – all receiving award nominations for editing.

On the television series Flashpoint, Lara received a DGC Award and a Gemini nomination. On Anne Wheeler’s feature film Suddenly Naked, she received a Genie award, and three nominations for editing on Rachel Talaley’s television movie On the Farm. In recognition of her body of work, Lara received an award from Women in Film and Television. Lara continues to mentor many emerging filmmakers and give valued advice to many seasoned storytellers. Currently, Lara is editing a movie for Netflix.

The 10th Annual CCE Awards Event Gala

In a career that has spanned over forty years, Fred Brennan has become one of Canada’s preeminent dialogue and supervising sound editors. He has worked on many Canadian feature films, major international co-productions and hundreds of hours television. His many awards include Genies and Geminis, recognition by The Director’s Guild of Canada and the Motion Picture Sound Editor’s Guild in Los Angeles. Some of Fred’s credits include Littlest Hobo, American Psycho, Call Me Fitz, Barney’s Version and Pompeii.
